4:46 p.m. update: Jennings County Sheriff’s deputies have announced that a Louisville man has been arrested on a preliminary charge of murder in the shooting death of Donavon Booker, 23, who died in Country Squire Lakes on Squire Lakes Boulevard on Monday. Stephon Moore, 30, Louisville, was arrested on a charge of murder and two counts of attempted murder and is currently being held in Louisville pending extradition to Jennings County. Moore was among three individuals detained, but the identities of the other two individuals were not released. A fourth person is being sought for questioning, according to the department. 2:30 p.m. update: Jennings County Sheriff’s deputies have identified the shooting victim in the Country Squire Lakes incident. The victim has been identified as Donavon Booker, 23, who lived in Country Squire Lakes. Booker, who had attended Jennings County High School, was employed at Hilex Poly Co. in North Vernon. JENNINGS COUNTY — Jennings County Sheriff’s deputies and Indiana State Police are investigating the shooting death of a male in his early 20s in Country Squire Lakes on Monday night.
Jennings County Sheriff Kenny Freeman said deputies were called to the incident at 7 p.m. about a male being shot in his upper torso. The victim was found outside, Freeman said. Police have designated the death as a homicide, Freeman said. The identity of the victim is not being released at this time, Freeman said.
No one is in custody at this time in regards to the shooting, Freeman said.
Deputies and state troopers are still at the scene and may release more information about the incident this afternoon, Freeman said.
Jennings County Coroner Gene Rudicel said an autopsy on the victim is planned later today or possibly early Wednesday morning.
