Cabaret series announces fall lineup

The new fall series for the popular, local Cabaret at The Commons series features Broadway’s original Elsa from “Frozen,” the lead in the stage revival of “Prince of Broadway,” and what some critics are calling “the hottest male voices” from the New York stage.

The series currently is averaging more than 350 people per show at the downtown venue normally allowing for 400 seats, said David Bowden, music director for the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic that presents the concert.

Scheduled shows this fall include:

  • Caissie Levy, Aug. 22: A theater favorite now performing as Elsa in Disney’s blockbuster musical “Frozen” on Broadway, Levy has been winning over audiences for the last decade, according to online promotional material. Other Broadway musical leading roles include Penny in “Hairspray,” Elphaba in “Wicked,” Molly in “Ghost: the Musical,” and Fantaine in the 2014 Broadway revival of “Les Misérables.” Her resume also includes backup vocals for pop-rock’s Rod Stewart during his Las Vegas shows.
  • Tony Yazbeck, Sept. 25: An American actor, singer, and dancer, best known for his work on Broadway, including the 2014 revival of “On the Town” for which he received 2015 Tony Award nomination for lead actor in a musical. He is also known for his principal roles on Broadway including J.M. Barrie in the Broadway production of “Finding Neverland,” Tulsa in “Gypsy,” Billy Flynn in “Chicago,” Phil Davis in “White Christmas,” Al Deluca in “A Chorus Line,” and a lead performer in the 2017 revival of “Prince Of Broadway.”
  • The Broadway Boys, Dec. 12: a collection of some the hottest male voices currently working on the New York stage, according to critics. The six-man group aims to shake things up in musical theater. Through their vocal prowess and redefining arrangements, the Boys add elements of pop, funk, gospel, jazz, and folk to showtunes and classic pop songs. Because of their six-person format, the Boys are able explore harmonies rarely presented by Broadway singers. Members of the group have performed in many Broadway shows including “Hamilton,” “Mary Poppins,” “Wicked,” “Jersey Boys” and “Miss Saigon.”
