Indianapolis woman apprehended after fleeing from courthouse

Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies have arrested an Indianapolis woman who fled from the Bartholomew County Courthouse on April 15 after she was sentenced to 30 days in jail.

Shanice Hatcher, 23, 218 N. Rural St., Indianapolis, was arrested at noon on May 9 in Indianapolis by U.S. Marshals, deputies said.

Court records state Hatcher was sentenced to serve 30 days in jail on a misdemeanor conversion conviction, and ran from the courtroom before she could be taken into custody by deputies on April 15.

She had been found guilty of the conversion charge in February after failing to appear for her bench trial in Bartholomew Superior Court 2, court records stated.

Hatcher is now charged with felony escape and misdemeanor resisting law enforcement charges, according to court records. She  is being held in the Bartholomew County jail without bond, jail officials said.
