Indianapolis man arrested after traffic stop

An Indianapolis man was arrested after a Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputy stopped his vehicle for driving without headlights at 12:52 a.m. Tuesday at north U.S. 31 and Interstate 65.

Deputy Brandon Sellers made the traffic stop and identified the driver as Lonnie Ball, 50, deputies said. Sellers determined that Ball was driving with a suspended license.

Ball was arrested on preliminary charges of obstruction of justice, possession of methamphetamine and driving while suspended with a prior conviction, deputies said.

Sellers located a white crystal substance later identified as methamphetamine where Ball had been seated in the patrol vehicle, deputies said.

Ball was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $70,000 bond, jail officials said.
