Bartholomew County sheriff appointed to national committee

Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Myers has been appointed to the National Sheriffs’ Association Homeland Security Committee.

Headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, the National Sheriffs’ Association is a non-profit association that serves thousands of sheriffs and other law enforcement professionals across the country through education, training and informational resources, according to the association’s website.

The NSA Homeland Security Committee is currently chaired by Sheriff Michael Chapman of Loudoun County, Virginia, and Sheriff Justin Smith of Larimer County, Colorado.

"I look forward to serving on NSA’s Homeland Security Committee," Myers said in a statement. "It is a true honor to be able to serve on a such an important committee with sheriffs from across our nation."

Myers, 50, was elected Bartholomew County Sheriff in 2014 after more than 25 years in law enforcement at the Columbus Police Department and the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office.
