Letter: Judicial precedent with abortion a cop-out

The anti-abortion laws being passed by legislatures in several states are receiving a lot of negative criticism. The main controversy seems to be over a woman’s right to decide what happens to her body. I certainly support that right.

The truth is that the baby in her womb is not part of her body, but is a distinct human person. Every cell in the human body carries the identical DNA. The baby’s genetic code is the combination of genes from the father and the mother, and is not the same as either parent.

Our country was founded on the principle that every person is endued with the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That baby has these same rights as one outside the womb. Abortion is not the law but a state of lawlessness. Roe vs. Wade declared all laws, then in effect, were unconstitutional. That terrible decision has allowed more than 50 million terminations of innocent, unborn children. Judicial precedent is a cop-out.

When it is wrong, it needs to be corrected by courageous leaders. Those five liberal Supreme Court justices who voted to allow this atrocity have since stood before a higher court, the supreme judge of the universe and learned what he thinks.

How can the USA criticize other countries for human rights violations when this is going on in our country? God help us! We can’t trust politicians or courts to end this slaughter.
