HOLOCAUST TALK WITH CHARLES MOMAN, 6 p.m. June 17, Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St., Columbus. Retired Seymour teacher Charles Moman returns with an updated version of his talk on the Holocaust. He has traveled with Holocaust survivor Eva Kor several times and has visited Auschwitz and other Nazi camps in Poland. Last fall he traveled with Eva to her home village in Romania, as well as Hungary. A photojournalistic lecture is intended for ages 12 and up, however no graphic images are used.

VET-TO-VET DISCUSSION, 5:10 p.m., Mondays, Mill Race Center, 900 Lindsey St., Columbus. Hour-long, facilitator-led group discussion with others who have served in the military. Attendees able to share problems with fellow veterans who may also be having a similar experience.

OLD FASHIONED INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION, 5-10:30 p.m. June 28, Hope Town Square, State Road 9, Hope. Activities begin with a decorated bike/trike/stroller parade for kids and ending after dark with fireworks. During the evening there will be free old-fashioned crafts, games and contests for kids that will include such things as watermelon seed spitting. There will also be a cake walk, a fish fry, an apple pie baking contest, fruit crisps, homemade ice cream and a few other food booths. The Banister Family Band will provide entertainment. PUREBRED RESCUE DOG ADOPTION EVENT, 7 p.m. June 19, Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St., Columbus. The Kennel Club of Columbus Indiana invites you to this event featuring up to 10 purebred rescue dog organizations with dogs up for adoption. Applications will be taken for some breeds; some dogs may be able to go home with you that evening. Adoption fees vary with each rescue organization. Make a “furever” friend. A limited number of dogs will be offered for adoption.
