Centra Credit Union celebrated a milestone Wednesday in the construction of its new headquarters on Columbus’ west side.

Force Construction hosted a topping out ceremony to honor the placement of the last steel beam on the building’s main structure.

The ceremony was held in the construction area located on the same site as the current headquarters at 3801 Tupelo Drive on the west side of Columbus. All future residents of the new building were given the chance to sign the final beam this morning before its installation.

“The Topping Out Ceremony is a strategic milestone in the construction of Centra Credit Union’s new headquarters building. We are thrilled by Force Construction’s invitation to sign the last beam, and we are very excited to have this opportunity for our signatures to be placed in perpetuity,” said Sharon Taylor, Centra AVP of facilities.

After Centra employees and the construction crew signed the beam, it was installed in place. An American flag and an evergreen tree were displayed on top to signify good luck and continued growth.

Centra’s new headquarters was designed by the Indianapolis based architect, Ratio, and is being constructed by Force Construction, also of Columbus.

The project is expected to be completed in the spring of 2020 and will house approximately 160 employees.
