Indiana National Guard Adjutant Gen. Courtney Carr sued in Marion County court

A lawsuit alleging sexual improprieties, defamation and a vendetta that cost a woman her job has been filed against a Columbus resident who leads Indiana National Guard.

Maj. Gen. Courtney P. Carr, Indiana National Guard adjutant general, is the defendant in a civil suit filed Aug. 1 in Marion Superior Court by Indianapolis resident Shari McLaughlin.

According to the lawsuit, Carr is accused of having an affair with a subordinate and then harassing and intimidating the woman who reported the affair. A contract employee with the Indiana National Guard, McLaughlin accused Carr in the lawsuit of getting her fired from her subsequent job after she had resigned from the contractor job with the Guard because of harassment.
