A famous board game is getting a Columbus twist, and you’d better hope you don’t eat too many fried pickles at the Garage Pub & Grill, or you’ll lose a turn.

Only in COLUMBUS-OPOLY can you advance to the famed Crump Theatre from the Flat Rock River in just seven hops, or go bankrupt when you’re elected mayor because you promised to pay $20 to everyone who voted for you. But COLUMBUS-OPOLY proves that anything is possible when you roll the dice.

COLUMBUS-OPOLY substitutes a traffic jam for the jail and sends you to a detour, and players collect $200 when they pass the “Go Columbus! corner.

The game, created by game developer Late for the Sky, debuted on Columbus’ Walmart shelves earlier this month. It showcases famous Columbus landmarks and the most well-known parts of the city on a game board that replicates the original well-known Monopoly.

“A lot of people have civic pride for pretty much any town they’re from,” said Michael Schulte, marketing manager for Late for the Sky. “Why not have a game that we all grew up playing about your own community?”
