CPD arrests local man on drug-related charges

CPD officers arrested a wanted person on drug-related charges after he was seen walking on Monday evening in Columbus.

Officers saw Phillip T. Roberts, 32, Columbus, walking near 10th and Wilson streets at 5:50 p.m., said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Officers confirmed a local warrant for Roberts’ arrest and he was taken into custody a
short time later, Harris said. While searching Roberts’ clothing, the officers reportedly located a small bag containing methamphetamine as well as drug paraphernalia inside his backpack, Harris said.

Roberts was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and a Bartholomew County warrant.
