To raise money for her senior project, Columbus East volleyball player Mady Foster had fans at Thursday night’s Columbus North at East volleyball game put money in jars of their favorite coach.

The winning coach was to receive a pie in the face following the game, but thanks to some large donations, the money was evened out at the end so that East boys basketball coach Brent Chitty and strength coach Scott Pherson and North boys basketball coach Paul Ferguson and assistant baseball coach Hunter McIntosh all were hit with the pies.

“We had a little secret plan,” Foster said. “Thanks to Saige Stahl and my grandma, they donated a big amount of money, and we were going to even it out at the end.”

The donations raised about $860 for the women’s shelter at Wheeler Mission Ministry, which is close to where Foster will be playing softball for Marian University in Indianapolis.

“I’m really amazed, honestly,” Foster said.
