Around Town – March 28

• Taylorsville Elementary School teachers and staff for the parade to let your students know how much you care, love and miss them, from a Taylorsville Bear alumni still living in the neighborhood.

• The Republic for adding the kids activity page while we are stuck at home.

• Kristen Brown for cutting through the fog of propaganda in her letter on the BCSC referendum.

• Kristen Brown for her letter calling for the withdrawal of the school referendum.

• Kristen Brown for the letter to the editor against the school tax increase which is unwarranted but is particularly outrageous in this environment.

• all the local service workers who are keeping us going and without whom we would have a much tougher time.

• when we finally get through this and businesses and individuals adopt better hygiene practices which should pay benefits for a healthier society in the future.

• Rohde’s Family diner for the delicious soup.

• Amy Henderson for sharing her picture of the river otter pups.

Onions to …

• people not understanding they have a social responsibility to not make everything they do “essential” or else the government will be happy to teach you with martial law.

• people who need a wake up call of how soft we’ve become, addicted to selfies, anti-social media and greed.

• those who constantly say the federal elected official is putting the economy before human lives, which is not true — if the economy tanks that will certainly affect human lives.

• people who forget our former elected official played golf the same day he declared a national emergency over the H1N1 virus.

• the lady at the downtown gas station in and out for hours to purchase scratch off lottery tickets, which is not an essential purchase during a pandemic and risks the health of others.

• all the armchair traffic counters upset that the streets aren’t a ghost town when there is a lot less traffic than a normal day.

• the childless former elected official who doesn’t understand how being unable to attract and retain quality educators puts our children at a disadvantage many will never recover from.

• people who believe the cable news network that is biased enough to lie.

• nonprofits who won’t pay unemployment due to conditions out of our hands.

• the company who thinks 50% staffing complies with the 100% stay-at-home mandate.

• the large employer who thinks their non-essential product is essential during this emergency, requiring their employees to keep working, and thus putting us all in jeopardy.

• the letter writer supporting the BCSC referendum who doesn’t even send his kids to public schools until high school, and whose job leaves him unworried about finances.

• a city consumed with tourism and buying real estate when we should be preparing for the next virus or flood.

• the former local elected official who needs to get a job or hobby.

• anyone trusting medical supplies made in China.

• the “fearless” leader who is afraid of the gun lobby, Saudi Arabia, North Korea, Russia, and the Speaker of the House.

• the time wasted by this hapless federal elected official denying that the virus threat would ever get this bad and is trying, via daily news conferences, to get free publicity and pretending to do his job.

• the federal elected official for taking over the virus response from the official who he appointed just so he can be in the spotlight every day.

• this federal elected official who accepts responsibility for nothing and assigns blame to everyone else including governors who are doing their best to fight the coronavirus in the absence of federal leadership.

• the factory that is still open and risking my husband’s life for the virus.

• the disease that is sweeping through the United States, let’s pray that it doesn’t get re-elected.

• the local gas stations raising prices in this dire time.

• the parents who think I want to pay a mortgage payment to provide their children with a playground for their expensive toys.

• the administration for canceling an order for ventilators from a General Motors plant in Indiana when these devices are sorely needed by health professionals to save lives.

• the factory that continues to work employees during the government shutdown and even working overtime, putting employees at even more risk.

• the federal elected official saying last night that ventilators are too expensive and he’s not going to order that many.

• the federal elected official who treats his government position as his own private business rather than being responsible and helping the American people.

• the onion regarding the political party and the rescue bill because it was the opposite party who just approved the bill.

• the federal elected official for questioning the health experts and putting out false and dangerous misinformation on the coronavirus.

• the people who are not taking this virus seriously with people going everywhere with kids.

• all the people who gripe and complain when they should be fasting and praying to God to stop this virus.
