Culvert work begins in Jennings County

JENNINGS COUNTY — Dave O’Mara Contractor Inc. plans to start work as early as next week on a $1.3 million box culvert replacement project on U.S. 50 in Jennings County. The contract includes structures near Butlerville and Hayden.

Crews will begin work on or after April 6, just east of Butlerville. The contractor will widen the roadway prior to reducing the road to one lane. A temporary traffic signal will be installed to maintain traffic. The signal will be in place for up to 45 days, through late May.

Following completion of the first structure, crews will move to the second location on U.S. 50, east of U.S. 31 near Hayden. Traffic will be shifted at the site of the culvert once work begins.

The contract was awarded in May 2019 and is expected to be complete by October. Motorists should slow down, use extra caution and drive distraction free through all work zones. All work is weather dependent.
