I researched the four candidates running to be judge, all of who are on the Republican ballot. I found that two of the candidates previously identified as Democrats with one of those being the former Democratic Party Chairperson. A third candidate unsuccessfully ran for judge in a prior election as an Independent candidate where he challenged an unopposed Republican.
Out of these four “Republican” candidates, I found only one who has been a lifelong Republican: Jon Rohde. Although I do not believe judges should have to designate a political party in an election, the fact is they are required to do so under our current system. Regardless, while researching the judge candidates, I was shocked to discover these facts and thought they were worth sharing.
