Silent march planned for Juneteenth at Donner Park

An event will be held at noon Friday at Donner Park, 739 22nd St., for Juneteenth and in honor of Black Lives Matter victims.

Participants at the event, called “Juneteenth Moment of Silence for Black Lives Matter Victims,” will march around the park in silence for 8 minutes, 46 seconds, the same length of time prosecutors say George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, was pinned to the ground under a white Minneapolis police officer’s knee before he died.

Speeches are also expected at the event, said Jeannine Lee Lake, the Democratic nominee for Indiana’s Sixth Congressional District seat. Lake is expected to attend the event.
