Property taxes due July 10

Last spring, the COVID-19 crisis prompted Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb to provide a waiver that gave property owners an extra 60 days to make their spring tax installments without penalties on both real and personal property.

But Bartholomew County Treasurer Barb Hackman said that extension of time has almost expired.

The last day to pay the spring installment of property taxes without penalties is Friday, July 10, Hackman said.

Due to ongoing pandemic concerns, taxpayers are asked to make their payments by one of three options.

Mail — Send the payment to Bartholomew County Treasurer, P.O. Box 1986, Columbus, IN 47202.

Drop box — The 24-hour drop box is located on Third St, across from the Crump Theatre. Envelopes are available at the drop box area.

Online banking — Pay by credit card, debit card or e-check at bartholomew.in.gov. A convenience fee will be assessed to those who choose this method of payment.

The extension of time ordered by Holcomb did not apply to property tax payments made through an escrow account or mortgage company, Hackman said.
