Olympians rout Stars

Abby Miller netted three goals and two assists, and Sydney Berkemeier added two goal and two assists Tuesday to lead Columbus East to a 13-1 Hoosier Hills Conference rout of Bedford North Lawrence.

Alana Dwenger had one goal and two assists for the Olympians (3-4, 2-0). Kathleen Soedel and Nadia Harris each added one goal and one assist.

East’s Kylie Hatcher, Grace Wiltsey, Allison Craig, Alexis Spurgeon and Heidi Murphy all scored one goal. Ruth Federle notched two assists, and Chloe Miller and Hannah Hemmerlein each had one assist.

The Olympians outshot the Stars 26-2. Murphy played the first 20 minutes in goal and did not face a shot, and Anna Liimatta recorded one save over the final 60 minutes.

Panthers down Shiners

RISING SUN — Morgan Lane scored two goals to lead Jennings County to a 4-1 win at Rising Sun.

Lily Schildknecht added a goal and an assist for the Panthers (4-5). Abby McDonald scored a goal, and Lilly Burchell had an assist.

Jennings outshot the Shiners 26-1.

Mustangs blank Eagles

ELLETTSVILLE — Brown County put 15 shots on goal, but couldn’t get one to find the net in a 5-0 Western Indiana Conference loss at Edgewood.

Sarah Callahan recorded five saves for the Eagles (0-4, 0-3). Isa Fogg had three saves, and Jenna Patterson added one save.

Trinity tops GCA

GREENWOOD — Trinity Lutheran picked up its first win of the season, a 2-1 victory at Greenwood Christian Academy.

Sarah Lemming and Kailene Cockerham each had a goal and an assist for the Cougars (1-1). Genesis Munoz posted 17 saves.

East rolls at BNL

BEDFORD — Logan Cline, Chris Quisenberry and Alejandro Saldivar all scored two goals to lead Columbus East to a 9-1 HHC win at Bedford North Lawrence.

Branson Young, Alberto Galindo Sanchez and Ben Sylva all scored one goal for the Olympians (3-1-4, 2-0-1). Adam Wear had two assists, and Cline, Brody Copas, Young, Quisenberry, Joe Hefner, Jake Hoeflich and Joe Deckard all added one assist.

Pete Coriden played the first 60 minutes in goal and recorded three saves. Gavin Edgecomb had one save over the final 20 minutes.

Bull Dogs tie Falcons

INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus North led 1-0 at halftime, but Perry Meridian scored in the 53rd minute, and the match ended in a 1-1 tie.

Nathan White scored in the 39th minute off an assist by Mateo Mendez for the Bull Dogs (3-1-4).

The Falcons outshot North 16-12, putting six shots on goal to two for the Bull Dogs. Colvin Iorio posted five saves.

Jets nip Yellow Jackets

HOPE — Cameron Scott netted three goals to lead Hauser to a 3-2 Mid-Hoosier Conference win against Morristown.

Thomas Essex had an assist for the Jets (2-4-2). Goalkeeper Carter Scott recorded six saves, and defender Thomas Essex added two saves.

East wins tri match

GREENSBURG — Harley Gant carded a 42 to win medalist honors and lead Columbus East to a tri-match win at Greensburg Country Club.

The Olympians finished with a 182 team total. Greensburg took second with a 207, and Jennings County was third with a 224.

Peyton Meier added a 43 for East. Carter Gant shot 48, Katie Hong had a 49, Lilly Steinwedel shot 51 and Cristen Martinez had a 52.

Sophia Curry led the Panthers with a 47. Alexis Carson carded a 48, Emma Jones added a 60 and Emma Kirchner had a 69.

North takes second

FRANKLIN — Columbus North finished second in a battle of three top-10 teams at The Legends. No. 5 Center Grove won with a 146 to 155 for the No. 6 Bull Dogs and 168 for No. 9 Franklin.

Nathaly Munnicha led North with a 1-under-par 35. Gwen Anderson carded a 38, Ella Wilks added a 40, Yestika Nischol shot 42 and Macy Euler had a 44.

Eagles tie Patriots

GOSPORT — Brown County and Owen Valley played to a 193-193 tie at Rolling Meadows. The Eagles had a fifth player, while the Patriots did not, but the coaches agreed to call it a tie.

Ainslie Winton led Brown County with a 45. Abby Padgett carded a 48, Avery Patterson added a 49, Annika Evenson shot 51 and Mattie Satter had a 64.

Lancers finish second

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh finished second in a tri match at Timbergate. Southwestern (Shelby) won with a 214 to 223 for the Lancers and 227 for Indian Creek.

Morgan Calhoun led Edinbrugh with a 45. Annelise Lollar added a 48, Serenity Smith and Izzy Richardson each shot 65 and Jillian Turner had a 68.

Bull Dogs edge Braves

BLOOMINGTON — Co-No. 11 Columbus North survived what could be its toughest test to defend its Conference Indiana title with a 3-2 win against No. 17 Terre Haute South in a match played at Bloomington North.

Matthew Liu beat Matthew Roberts 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles for the Bull Dogs (6-1, 3-0). Amrit Kar and Anvay Atrim downed Jonathon Stadler and Parker Mahurin 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, and Luke Enneking and Eric Stavnheim topped Stephen Kallubhavi and Walker Forsythe 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

North’s Nathan Lin fell to Canaan Sellers 3-6, 6-3, (10-4) at No. 1 singles. Joseph Kloepfer lost to Caleb Morris 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.

Tigers sweep Jets

HOPE — Triton Central won four matches in straight sets and another by forfeit in a 5-0 victory at Hauser.

Caleb Wallace fell to Caleb Anderson at No. 1 singles, and Noah Estes lost to Alex Crouse at No. 2 singles, both by 6-1, 6-1 scores. The Jets (2-6) had to forfeit the No. 3 singles spot.

Hauser’s Eli Miller and Levi Gollmer fell to Jack Baker and Quintin Potts 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Carson Rose and Hagan Wiedersatz lost to Avram Rund and Jared Schweitzer 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Woodmen oust Lancers

GREENWOOD — Greenwood did not lose a game in handing Edinburgh a 5-0 loss in the opening round of the Johnson County Tournament.

Max Blandford fell to Ethan Gray at No. 1 singles, Travis Jones lost to Nick Belovic at No. 2 singles and Chase Littlejohn fell to Charlie Brooks at No. 3 singles for the Lancers (3-3). Cash Cunningham and Trevor Moon lost to Thomas Burtt and Aidan Luttrell at No. 1 doubles, and Ian Buchanan and Braedyn Johnson fell to Sam Fenner and Noah Paswater at No. 2 doubles.

Columbus Christian wins

After a close first set, Columbus Christian rolled in the final two for a 25-19, 25-11, 25-3 victory against Southside Christian.

Hannah Stair recorded 11 kills, five digs and 12 aces; Emily Stair had one kill, 16 assists, five digs and seven aces and Kayla Jones added one kill, six digs and 12 aces to lead the Crusaders (6-0).

Also for Columbus Christian, Madison Henderson notched four kills, four digs and six aces, Lila Hudson tallied two kills and two blocks, Isabella VanCuren pounded three kills and Kinidy Morgan added one kill and one dig.

Eagles fall in 4

GREENCASTLE — Brown County and Greencastle split the first two sets, but the Tiger Cubs took the final two to claim a 25-12, 20-25, 25-16, 25-10 Western Indiana Conference victory.

Abigail Watson pounded six kills and five blocks, Londyn Koester recorded six kills and 13 digs and Abigail Bowman had 14 assists and two aces to lead the Eagles (5-5, 1-2).

Spartans sweep Lancers

SHELBYVILLE — Edinburgh came close in the second set, but Southwestern (Shelby) posted a 25-14, 25-23, 25-16 victory.

The Lancers fell to 4-11 overall and 0-3 in the MHC.

Trinity tops Twisters

OLDENBURG — Class A No. 1 Trinity Lutheran had little trouble in rolling to a 25-4, 25-9, 25-10 win at Oldenburg Academy.

Sydney Jaynes led the Cougars (11-3) with 13 kills and two blocks. Bailey Reynolds recorded 30 assists, Bailey Tabeling had 2 blocks, Kamzi Gross notched 12 digs and Ruthie Bingham served three aces.

Also for Trinity, Kennedy Hoffman pounded 11 kills and Stella Kleffman added seven kills and five aces. Elly Carter tallied four digs and two aces.
