Motorcyclist dies in accident on training course at airport

COLUMBUS, Ind. — The Columbus Police Department is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that claimed the life of a rider participating in a training course on Sunday.

Officers were sent to the Columbus Municipal Airport, 4770 Ray Boll Boulevard, about the crash, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

The officers were advised that a motorcycle course for new riders was being conducted when one of the participants, Carol McMurray, 66, of Indianapolis lost control of a of 2020 Can Am Ryker and went off of the course and struck a metal storage container, Harris said.

McMurray was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital where she died as a result of her injuries, Harris said. The accident remains under investigation by Columbus Police Department crash reconstructionists.
