North blanks Batesville

Jenna Lang netted three goals and two assists Tuesday night to lead Class 3A No. 8 Columbus North broke open a close game at halftime to post a 9-0 win against Batesville.

Emily Kleinhelter scored two goals, and Lauren Whitley added a goal and three assists for North (13-1-1), which led only 1-0 at the break. Lauren Barker had a goal and an assist, and K.J. Ely and Claire Lyvers each scored one goal.

North outshot Batesville 28-0. Mallory Gilley did not face a shot in posting the shutout.

Panthers nip Cougars

NORTH VERNON — Morgan scored off an assist from Delaney Burkman in the 75th minute to give Jennings County a 1-0 win against Trinity Lutheran.

The Panthers (7-8) outshot the Cougars (5-5) 20-10. Tori Lee recorded two saves for Jennings, and Genesis Munoz had 10 saves for Trinity.

Bull Dogs down Owls

SEYMOUR — Aidan Whitley scored three goals, and Nathan White had two goals and an assist to lead Columbus North to a 5-1 win at Seymour.

Sam Larken added an assist for the Bull Dogs (6-4-5), who led 3-1 at halftime.

North outshot the Owls 28-6, putting 16 shots on goal to Seymour’s three. Colvin Iorio recorded two saves.

Eagles edge Jets

HOPE — Hauser fell just short in a 2-1 loss to Christel House Academy.

Cameron Scott scored the goal for the Jets (4-7-2). Will Walters posted nine saves.

Spartans stop Trinity

SHELBYVILLE — Southwestern (Shelby) was too much for Trinity Lutheran in a 10-0 decision.

The Spartans outshot the Cougars (1-9) 35-12. Peyton Pollert recorded 25 saves.

Jets clinch title share

GREENSBURG — Hauser clinched at least a share of the Mid-Hoosier Conference title with a 25-21, 25-20, 25-21 win at North Decatur.

Hannah Johnson led the Jets (16-8, 5-0) with 11 kills and three aces. Aunaka Wasil recorded 27 assists, Kenze Bostic had two blocks and Andie Clark notched 36 digs.

Also for Hauser, Marnie Schwartzkopf pounded 10 kills and one block, Bostic added three kills and Andie Clark tallied three assists. Charlie Clark had one block and one ace, Adriana Musillami posted 17 digs, Kyra Meister contributed 10 digs and Wasil served two aces.

North falls to Stars

BEDFORD — Columbus North won the first set, but Bedford North Lawrence rallied for a 23-25, 25-15, 25-14, 25-16 victory.

Sarah Bennett pounded 12 kills and three blocks, and Reagan Kane recorded 13 assists and two aces to lead the Bull Dogs (6-17). Madison White had three blocks, and Ava McKinney notched 14 digs.

Also for North, Kane had seven kills and 12 digs, and Logan Branstetter tallied seven kills. Emma Martin posted 11 assists, and Grace Chapman and Sydney Cooper each added 11 digs.

Columbus Christian wins

Columbus Christian dropped the third set and trailed late in the fourth before recovering for a 25-11, 25-21, 21-25, 28-26 against Indy Genesis.

Hannah Stair led the Crusaders (17-3-1) with 18 kills and five aces. Emily Stair recorded 24 assists, Lindsey Hunnicutt had two assist blocks and Kayla Jones notched 25 digs.

Also for Columbus Christian, Madison Henderson tallied 14 kills, one assist block, 24 digs and one ace; Kenna Conrad had four kills, one assist block and four digs, and Kinidy Morgan added 13 digs and two aces. Emily Stair posted three kills, 20 digs and one ace, Hannah Stair had one assist block and 22 digs, Lila Hudson contributed one assist block and five digs, Isabella VanCuren added one dig and Jones served one ace.

Braves topple Eagles

NASHVILLE — Brown County won the first set, but Indian Creek rallied for a 15-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-20 WIC triumph.

Abigail Bowman recorded 21 assists and three aces, and Londyn Koester had 16 digs and three aces to lead the Eagles (9-9, 3-4). Mary Rygiel pounded 11 kills, and Abigail Watson had three blocks.

Also for Brown County, Watson had eight kills, and Milly Patrick added seven kills and one ace. Rygiel tallied 12 digs.

Cubs best Panthers

MADISON — Playing for the first time in two weeks, Jennings County dropped a 25-12, 25-15, 21-25, 25-17 Hoosier Hills Conference decision at Madison.

Juliann Woodard pounded 11 kills and Megan Vogel recorded 31 assists to lead the Panthers (3-9, 0-6). Alivia Elmore added 10 kills.

Trinity falls in 5

GREENWOOD — Center Grove twice rallied from one-set deficits to hand Class A No. 1 Trinity Lutheran a 22-25, 25-22, 20-25, 25-19, 15-13 defeat.

The Cougars fell to 20-4.

Saints slip past Jets

HOPE — Hauser closed the regular season with a 3-2 loss to Indianapolis Lutheran.

Eli Miller beat Cade Tibet 6-3, 7-6 (6) at No. 2 singles, and Noah Estes downed Blake Miller 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles for the Jets (3-9).

Hauser’s Caleb Wallace fell to Reese Bullock 6-3, 7-6 (1) at No. 1 singles. Caleb Hoover and Levi Gollmer lost to Cohl Erwin and Cole Perkins 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, and Carson Rose and Hagan Wiedersatz fell to Hpung Aung and Isaac Vance 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

CROSS-country

Jets post Perfect 15s

MORRISTOWN — Ryan Ault and Amanda Steward won the boys and girls races to lead Hauser to 15-point showings at Morristown.

Ault won the boys race in 17 minutes, 40 seconds for 5,000 meters (3.1 miles). Alex Bower finished second in 18:52, while Colin Kistler was third (19:12) Tanner Ault fourth (20:10) and Aiden Cheshire fifth (22:54).

The Yellow Jackets did not have any girls runners. Steward won in 24:49, followed by Addison Jones (26:12), Reiss Kistler (26:30), Kaitlynn Everroad (28:48) and Lexi Tallent (31:13).
