Film fest begins today as prize winners named

The local YES Film Festival runs today through Sunday at YES Cinema at 328 Jackson St. in downtown Columbus.

And a judging panel has announced its annual Jury Prize winners for the fest that features narrative films, documentaries and shorts.

Winners in each category are:

  • Best documentary: "9/11 Kids," by Elizabeth S. Philip
  • Best narrative — "Murmur" by Heather Young
  • Best short — (tie) "Blocks," by Bridget Moloney, and "The Mirror," by Joel Kohn

Prizes were awarded by a seven-person jury comprised of filmmakers, media representatives, actors, producers and directors from film festivals across the country.

The Audience Awards will be determined based upon audience member voting during the festival.
