Crusaders positioned for tourney’s top bracket

DAYTON, Tennessee — Columbus Christian put itself in optimum position to be selected for spot in today’s Division I bracket in the National Association of Christian Athletes Tournament by winning three of six sets on Thursday, the final day of pool play.

The Crusaders beat Beach Breakers (Chesapeake, Virginia) 14-25, 25-24, 25-16 and fell to Hearts for Jesus Christ (Fairview Park, Ohio) 25-22, 25-23, 18-25.

The other two teams also split their six sets, and with 134 total points, Columbus Christian (25-5-1) had a few more, which would put them in Division I. The final brackets were to be released late Thursday night.

Hannah Stair recorded 21 kills, two assists, 28 digs and five aces; Emily Stair notched nine kills, 25 assists, three assist blocks, 24 digs and eight aces; Madison Henderson tallied 14 kills, two solo blocks, 23 digs and two aces and Kayla Jones had one assist, 22 digs and three aces to lead the Crusaders.

Also for Columbus Christian, Kinidy Morgan posted 16 digs and one ace and Lila Hudson added two kills, one solo and one assist block, one dig and one ace. Isabella VanCuren contributed one kill and one solo and three assist blocks and one dig; Kenna Conrad had two kills, one assist block and two digs and Lindsey Hunnicutt added one solo block and one dig.
