COLUMBUS, Ind. — Most Columbus city buildings will continue to be closed to the public through March 31, due to the ongoing pandemic.

City officials said today they will revisit this decision based on what happens over the next month, as the level of community spread throughout Bartholomew County is monitored along with the pace of local vaccinations.

City business will continue to be transacted; employees will continue to work and answer phones and emails, and will meet with members of the public by appointment only. Individuals may call or email the specific department to meet with a staff member.

Virtual meetings will continue through March, live-streamed and available through Granicus and WebEx.

If Gov. Eric Holcomb does not extend his emergency order through March, the city will go back to in-person meetings and let the public know of changes, city officials said.

Here is a list of city buildings and their status:

  • City Hall and Police Office Building closed – appointment only
  • Animal Care Building closed – appointment only
  • Donner Center Building closed – appointment only
  • Utilities Building closed – appointment only; Drive-through open
