Hansons win 14th Broomball League championship

Top-seeded Hansons beat No. 3-seed CCA 5-3 to capture its 14th Columbus Broomball League title.

Matt Street netted two goals for Hansons, while Rob Steigerwalt, Ryan Ingalls and Matt Psota all added one. Max Warr had two goals, and Dave Dickinson added one for CCA.

In the third-place game, No. 2-seed The Steagles edged No. 4 Our Name Is Earl 2-1. Katelyn Perera and Tyler Rash scored for Steagles. Nick Lewis had the goal for Earl.

No. 5-seed Jennings County BC topped No. 6 Toyota Tsunamis 5-3 in the fifth-place game. Eric Wernke netted three goals, and Kyle Hunterman and Darrien Castetter each added one for Jennings. Clayton McNealy scored two goals, and Greg McNealy had one for Tsunamis.

Squirt Flames win tourney

The Columbus Squirt Flames A team won the Irish Cup in South Bend last weekend. They tied the West Kent Hawks AA 2-2, beat the played the Belle Tire Warriors AA 5-4 and fell to the South Bend Rovers AA 3-2 before beating the Rovers 4-2 in the championship game. Carter Davis led the team with four goals and three assists. Brooks Larsh netted three goals and two assists; Carter Harris had two goals and one assist; Aaron Warble and Henry Schloemer each scored two goals; Kai Bergmann had one goal and Thomas King, Rowan Correll and Keaton Grube all added one assist. Canyon Long made 68 saves on 79 shots for an 86.08 save percentage.

The previous weekend, Squirt A lost to Indy Fuel Black 1-0 and tied 3-3. Larsh had one goal and one assist, Schloemer and Carter Harris each scored one goal and Thomas King and Davis each had one assist. Canyon Long was in net with a save percentage of 85.71.

Squirt B fell to Genewa Cyclones 6-0 and South Bend Rovers Select 9-6 before beating the South Bend Shamrocks 10-1 and 8-0 last weekend. Logan Barringer led the team with five goals and three assists. Henry Jamerson netted four goals and one assist, Bentley Hampton scored four goals, Garrett Uy recorded three goals and one assist, Cooper Ross had two goals and one assist, Nolan Sparkman and Maximiliano Perez each scored two goals, Daniel Wallace had one goal and two assists, Preston Bell scored one goal and Noah Doig and Lukas Jozsa each had 1 assist. Cayden Long was in net two games with a 77.42 save percentage. Knox Coen was in net two games with a 65.22 save percentage.

The previous weekend, Squirt B lost to Owensboro Puckhogs 6-1 and 7-6. Sparkman netted two goals and one assist; Barringer recorded one goal and two assists; Ross, Bentley Hampton and Henry Jamerson all had one goal and one assist, Maximiliano Perez scored one goal and Noah Doig and Preston Bell each added one assist. Cayden Long was in net one game with a save percentage of 80.0, and Knox Coen was in net one game with a save percentage of 63.16.

Flames Peewee B fell to Northern Kentucky 5-3 and 7-2 in a pair of regular-season games last weekend. Ashton Nguyen scored two goals, Ryan McGhehey netted one goal and two assists, Ayden Richardson had one goal and one assist, Jonah Young scored one goal and Zane Lynch added one assist. Gabe Marsh and Hudson Beckom each were in net one game.

The previous weekend, Peewee B beat Louisville Ice Cardinals 3-2 and tied 3-3. Kai Bergmann netted two goals; Ryan McGhehey, Aaron Warble, Ashton Nguyen and Ayden Richardson all scored one goal;Carter Kareus had two assists and Gabe Marsh, Carter Davis and Lilly Donica all added assist. Gabe Marsh and Hudson Beckom each were each in net one game.

Columbus Flames Bantams tied Junior Fuel White 4-4 and won 4-1 and fell to Indian Hill 5-0 and 5-3. Wyatt Warner led the team with three goals and one assist. Jack Warble netted two goals and one assist; Leif Nelson had one goal and two assists; John Warble, Kaitlyn Buickel, Samuel McGhehey, Jadan Pagan and Bryce McDonald all scored one goal; Westin Davis notched three assists; Hayden Johnson had two assists and Cole Finney and Callijah Kenney each added one assist. Jackson Wheatley and Zach Goggins each played one game in net.
