Schaffer to appear before Washington D.C. magistrate today

WASHINGTON — Jon R. Schaffer, 53, Edinburgh, is scheduled to appear in a Washington D.C. court today for an initial hearing on charges filed regarding allegations about his involvement during the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.

Court records indicate Schaffer is being held in the Washington D.C. Jail. He is expected to appear before Magistrate Judge Zia M. Faruqui for a video teleconference at 12:30 p.m.

According to the court record, Schaffer is being held without bond.
