State: 1,124 additional Hoosiers have COVID-19

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Health announced today that 1,124 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at state and private laboratories. That brings to 712,858 the number of Indiana residents now known to have had the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s dashboard.

To date, 12,848 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of five from the previous day. Another 408 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record.

A total of 3,352,755 unique individuals have been tested in Indiana, up from 3,347,994 on Thursday. A total of 9,588,133 tests, including repeat tests for unique individuals, have been reported to the state Department of Health since Feb. 26, 2020.

Bartholomew County reported 7,935 positive tests (up 10) with 155 deaths (no change) as of Friday.

Surrounding counties reported:

  • Jackson County: 4,951 positive cases (up three) with 72 deaths (no change).
  • Jennings County: 2,257 positive cases (up two) with 48 deaths (no change).
  • Decatur County: 2,799 positive cases (up two) with 92 deaths (no change).
  • Shelby County: 4,825 positive cases (up six) with 95 deaths (no change).
  • Johnson County: 17,617 positive cases (up 17) with 374 deaths (no change).
  • Brown County: 1,007 positive cases (no change) with 40 deaths (no change).

Hoosiers age 16 and older are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. To schedule a vaccine, visit https://ourshot.in.gov or call 211 if you do not have access to a computer or require assistance.

As of today, a total of 3,938,806 doses have been administered in Indiana. This includes 2,253,551 first doses and 1,685,255 individuals who are fully vaccinated. The fully vaccinated number represents individuals who have received a second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines and those who received the single Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
