Duke Energy restoring power after switching customers to different grid

2:15 p.m. update

A power outage has resumed for about 1,600 customers between 25th Street and National Road as Duke Energy switches them back to their normal power grid. The power will be turned back on after a short time.

Noon update

Duke Energy will be enacting an emergency power outage until 4 p.m. today for customers near and around the Two Worlds condo complex due to the auto accident at 17th Street and Beam Road.

11:30 A.M. UPDATE

Duke Energy is rerouting power to restore about 1,600 customers who had a power outage, which began at about 11 a.m. Power to The Republic was restored at 11:25 a.m.

 

ORIGINAL STORY

Duke Energy is investigating a power outage from 25th Street out to National Road, including The Republic offices.

The utility said there has been a car accident at 17th Street and Beam Road which broke a pole, which may be part of the outage. However, a planned emergency outage in which power was to be switched in order to make repairs had been scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
