Word has been received that Kimberly Kay Schmidt, 61 of Fort Myers Beach, Florida, passed away on September 6, 2020. Kimberly was born on March 7, 1959, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Donald L. Schmidt and Patricia M. (Sullivan) Schmidt.

During her working life, she helped with running the family business, Overhead Door Company of Columbus Inc. She was a gymnast at Columbus North, a member of the Moose Lodge and had many wonderful friends at Bonita Bills.

Among many other things, Kimberly loved to go boating, swimming, skiing and especially loved to ride horses. She loved her horses, her dogs, Sullivan and Madison and her pot-bellied pig, Sir Diamond Bacon.

Kimberly loved her family, around which her universe revolved. She loved old friends and welcomed new ones. She always put her family above all other priorities, including taking care of her own self. She took great pride in caring for others which brought her joy.

She had conviction and confidence to spare. Her sense of humor was enough to make us all smile, no matter the circumstance and befriend those she may have barely known.

She also valued hard work, commitment and following ones dreams.

Her love was unconditional, as it was the fabric from which she fashioned her entire life.

Kimberly is survived by her parents, Donald and Patricia Schmidt of Columbus, Indiana and Ft. Myers Beach, Florida; son and daughter in law, Brandon and Carla Corya of Columbus, Indiana; son and daughter in law, Kip and Clare Corya of Mesa, Arizona; sister in law, Linda Schmidt of Columbus, Indiana; granddaughters, Adriana Corya of Columbus, Indiana, Myla, Taylor and Charlie Corya of Mesa, Arizona; and nephews, Griffin Schmidt of Los Angeles, California and Collin Schmidt of Columbus, Indiana.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Donald A. Schmidt, as well as her grandparents, John and Dot Jackson, Don and Bernice Schmidt, and Charles A. Sullivan (RIP).

No memorial services will be held at this time.
