Missouri’s Mark Twain National Forest Offers Outstanding Recreational Opportunity

The Mark Twain National Forest is comprised of 1.5 million acres spread out across much of Southern Missouri. It stretches through 29 counties. Rolla, Salem and Poplar Bluff are cities near the Mark Twain National Forest. Scattered throughout are small towns like Ava, Bunker, Doniphan, Van Buren and Winona. The forest is far from contiguous. There are multiple large blocks. Only the Cedar Creek section is located north of the Missouri River.

Columbus Go-Karts busy at Tony Stewart Speedway

The Columbus Speedway Go-Kart Racing which holds events at the Tony Stewart Speedway on the grounds of the Bartholomew County 4-H Fairgrounds held a meet on July 16. The division winners were Brenden McGlothen (mod lites), Bentley McCann (rookies), Brooklyn Summers (junior 1), Jacob Chadd (junior 2 and pro purple), Blake Robertson (junior 3), Ron Stillabower (pred), Grant Hiler (medium) and Kyle Thayer (super heavy).

Tyler Duncan fired a 1-under-par 70 in Friday’s second-round to make the cut and is tied for 64th at 1-over in the 3M Open.
