’30 ROCK’ RETURNS REMOTELY

NBC turns back the clock in order to look ahead. “30 Rock: A One-Time Special” (8 p.m., TV-14) reunites the cast of the sitcom, which ran from 2006-’13. While the original “Rock” lampooned the GE/Comcast corporate culture of NBC, this one-time, one-hour special is essentially a nostalgia-filled infomercial for the network.

Like the recent “Parks & Recreation” reunion, the event has been produced remotely and incorporates the current COVID quarantine into its story. Along with the unusual shenanigans and barbed conversation between Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) and boss Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin), the special will tout the new shows coming to NBC in the fall.

I’m not sure if the difficulty and uncertainty about producing new episodes of anything will be addressed. But I have confidence the “30 Rock” writers will find a way. Tracy Morgan, Jane Krakowski and Jack McBrayer will also appear.

This may be a “One-Time” special, but it will be repeated on Bravo, Syfy and USA, and will stream, starting tomorrow, on the new Peacock service.

— An idea so obvious it should have been produced 20 years ago, “Killer Camp” (8 p.m., CW, TV-14) mashes up the conventions of a reality competition show (and all those “eliminations”) with the style and devices of a summer camp slasher movie.

While there’s nothing more American than movies like “Halloween” and “Friday the 13th,” this horror/comedy/reality hybrid is a British import. Go figure.

Every episode of “Killer Camp” will be available to stream on CWTV.com and the CW app one day after broadcast.

— Speaking of imports, Sundance Now begins streaming the Australian psychological thriller “The Secret She Keeps.” This marks the second “prestige” streaming import this week (after Acorn’s “The Nest”) to offer a variation on a Lifetime movie plot.

Laura Carmichael, best known for playing the dowdy and often ignored Lady Edith on “Downton Abbey,” stars here as a desperate woman who bonds with another expectant mother (Jessica De Gouw, “The Crown”).

As their due dates near, the friendship borders on obsession and then crosses over into something more ominous.

— Richard Gere and Julia Roberts, who starred in the 1990 Cinderella story “Pretty Woman” (7:30 p.m., Freeform, TV-14), reunited to star in the 1999 romantic comedy “Runaway Bride” (8 p.m., CMT, TV-PG).

Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore were cast together for the third time in the 2014 comedy “Blended” (9 p.m., TNT, TV-MA). A.O. Scott cautioned parents against sharing this with the kids. “It will make your children stupid,” he wrote.

TONIGHT’S OTHER HIGHLIGHTS

Charles Coburn, Ruth Hussey and Edmund Gwenn also star.
