Police: 13 arrested after probation sweep

Police and probation agencies in Jennings County collaborated in a probation visit sweep that resulted in 13 arrests.

The Jennings County Probation Department, North Vernon Police Department, Jennings County Sheriff’s Department and Jackson/Jennings County Community Corrections conducted a series of probation home visits Thursday, the probation department said.

Seven arrests were made and seven additional violations were discovered, the probation department said. Six arrests were made of non-probation offenders who were in the homes being checked, the probation department said.

About 40 homes where those on probation reside were checked as part of the sweep.

Violations and charges in the cases range from possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and alcohol, to legend drug violations and possession of paraphernalia, the probation department said.
