SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota - In a story Nov. 7 about cleanup of the former Black Hills Army Depot site, The Associated Press, relying on information from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, reported erroneously that the U.S. government had spent at least $560 million on the site since 1984. That figure is total spending nationwide for all former used defense sites, Army Corps spokesman Kevin Quinn said. He said at least $40 million has been spent on the Black Hills site.
NEW YORK - CBS News hasn't invited Dan Rather back to participate in its 50th-anniversary coverage of the Kennedy assassination, but images of the longtime anchor who parted bitterly with the network will be a part of its upcoming documentary on how the story unfolded that day.
