Getting through the holidays amid loss can pose special challenges, especially when the yuletide season so frequently emphasizes joy.
But Community Church of Columbus wants to extend a hand of help.
The church will have a free presentation, “Surviving the Holidays,” at 6 p.m. Nov. 27 at the church, 3850 N. Marr Road. One segment will be focused on those in the Griefshare program — teens or adults who have had a loved one die in the past year. Linda Fisher and Rebecca Booth will facilitate the workshop, video and discussion.
Another workshop will focus on those in DivorceCare — adults who are separated or divorced. Organizers say the session is designed “to be proactive and supportive to those facing the stress of the holiday season.” Chip and Annie Wehling will lead this session.
The presentations, which include child care, are free.
