COLUMBUS, Ind. — One person was killed and another seriously injured in an collision between a mo-ped and Chevrolet Impala early Thursday evening, police said.
The accident occurred near the intersection of County Roads 450N and 425E in northern Bartholomew County, near Simmons Winery.
One of two men traveling on the mop-ed was taken by ambulance to Columbus Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, said Chief Deputy Maj. Todd Noblitt of the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department.
The second person on the mo-ped was LifeLined to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with what Noblitt said were life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the car, a woman, escaped with minor injuries, Noblitt said.
