Two people died and a third was injured Friday in a two-vehicle, fiery crash on State Road 46 near County Road 1000E in Bartholomew County, according to police.
The genders and identities of the two people who died were unknown as of late Friday, said Maj. Todd Noblitt, spokesman for the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department.
A woman who was the driver of one vehicle was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital, Noblitt said. Her identity and extent of her injuries were unknown as of presstime.
The crash happened around 8 p.m., Noblitt said.
The accident occurred in the westbound lane of State Road 46, Noblitt said, but what caused the crash was unknown.
Noblitt said police believe there were no witnesses to the accident, but people arrived on the scene shortly after the accident, and some people helped the injured woman from her vehicle.
The two people in the other vehicle were unable to be rescued because the vehicle was on fire, Noblitt said.
