3 North band members earn Jazz honors

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Three Columbus North High School band members, all seniors, have been named to the 2013 Indiana All-State High School Jazz Band.
They are:
- Akitoshi Kato, trumpet
- Pascal Lee, trumpet
- Alex Rhoades, trombone
Students had to complete an audition in which they performed scales, etudes and improvisation for the Indiana Jazz Educators Association.
The All-State Jazz Ensemble will perform as part of the Indiana Music Educators Association Professional Development Conference at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 18 at the Allen County Library in Fort Wayne. The concert is free and open to the public.
