NASHVILLE — Brown County’s boys basketball team hung tough with Class 2A No. 4 Sullivan for three-plus quarters Wednesday night before the Arrows pulled away for a 54-36 Western Indiana Conference victory.
The Eagles were within 39-30 with six minutes left in the game but then went five minutes without scoring.
“I thought we played really well for three quarters,” Brown County head coach Roger Fleetwood said.
Evan Rose led the Eagles (1-6, 0-2) with 12 points. Brown County missed nine layups.
“We’re not good enough to miss nine layups and beat a team that’s 9-1,” Fleetwood said. “We missed a lot of open shots, too. It comes down to shooting.
“I was pleased with how we handled the press, but we have to start making shots if we’re going to compete against good teams.”
