50-plus cats removed from mobile home

Follow The Republic:

More than 50 cats have been removed from a mobile home in the Candlelight Village mobile home park in northeast Columbus.

Columbus Animal Care Services manager Kevin Konetzka said the incident in the 3700 block of Candlelight Drive is under investigation. He said his department is most concerned with ensuring the best possible outcome for everyone involved.

“We had a gentleman making an effort to do the right thing, and the situation became a little overwhelming for him,” Konetzka said.

The process of removing the cats began at 10:40 a.m. Friday and concluded shortly before 3 p.m., according to incident records. All the cats will be examined by a veterinarian before efforts get underway to find them homes, Konetzka said.

Konetzka said the man’s identity would not be released while the case remains under investigation.
