92-year-old man honored as year's top Democrat

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County Democrats honored a longtime member at Saturday's annual Jefferson Jackson Day Dinner.

Charles "Red" Whittington was named the Democrat of the Year after serving the party for more than 70 years, Democratic Party Chairwoman Priscilla Scalf said.

Whittington, 92, has been involved in the party since he was in his early 20s and served in the 95th Army Division, Scalf said.
