A teenage girl who wanted attention fabricated a story that alleged a man tried to lure her into a van Thursday morning as she walked to school, Columbus police said.

The detectives reviewed surveillance cameras, which did not indicate an incident had occurred, said Lt. Matt Myers, spokesman for Columbus police.
The girl told detectives that she had fabricated the incident in an effort to seek attention, he added.
