A teenage girl who wanted attention fabricated a story that alleged a man tried to lure her into a van Thursday morning as she walked to school, Columbus police said.
Columbus Police Department detectives determined that the incident was fictitious after a follow-up interview with the 14-year-old girl, a middle school student. The detectives reviewed surveillance cameras, which did not indicate an incident had occurred, said Lt. Matt Myers, spokesman for Columbus police.
The girl told detectives that she had fabricated the incident in an effort to seek attention, he added.
