COLUMBUS, Ind. — Alertness. Stress. Adrenaline.
Police officers must be prepared for any circumstance.
That’s the perspective of Columbus resident Gil Palmer after he attended the Citizens’ Academy operated by the Columbus Police Department.
“There are a lot of things that I learned from a process standpoint that you have to have go through your head (as an officer),” Palmer said.
The Citizens’ Academy has been dormant since 2006, but new Police Chief Jason Maddix is bringing back the eight-week program this year and enhancing it by including other public safety agencies.
