If you can’t fight the feeling of wanting a ticket to Saturday’s REO Speedwagon concert at Mill Race Park, you’d better take it on the run to an outlying Circle K store.
It’s the only outlet with adult tickets remaining until noon today.
That’s the cutoff for all advance tickets. Ten-dollar tickets for those 18 and younger still were available Tuesday afternoon at Columbus stores, however.
The organizing Columbus Area Arts Council’s Arthur Smith said late last week that he thought the Rock the Park concert had a good chance of being a sellout with more than 7,000 people attending. He said Tuesday afternoon that adult $15 advance tickets now are available only at Circle K locations in Nashville, North Vernon, Greensburg, Taylorsville, Edinburgh, Seymour and Brownstown.
Organizers have said that about 500 tickets may be available at the gate, opening at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Last year, 7,025 people attended Foreigner’s performance at Rock the Park, making it the largest crowd for the annual, late-summer event that began in 2008.
The 2011 concert with .38 Special was the next-largest crowd with 3,500 people.
Smith has said the Arts Council will hold this year’s crowd to slightly more than 7,000 to limit safety and security concerns.
Local band Those Valiants, playing a mix of alternative and classic rock, will open the show at 7:30 p.m. REO Speedwagon is expected to take the stage at 8:30 p.m.
