John Anderson will not seek re-election after 11 years on the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. Board.
Anderson, who will serve through December, said he has enjoyed serving the students of the district, but feels at this point he has learned enough and experienced enough to let someone else serve in his place.
He said he is proud to have played a small role on a board that lists high school renovations and the creation of a Signature Academy among its accomplishments.
“The absolute pinnacle is seeing the kids get their diplomas,” Anderson said. “I have a passion for kids. They’re our future, and someday they’ll work alongside you and me.”
Anderson, who is the lake manager for the Grandview Lot Owners Association, said he will continue to take an active part in government politics.
For now, he also is a school board liaison to the Family School Partners Board.
He was first elected to the school board’s District 3 seat in 2001 to complete the term of former member Robert Williams.
He has won election twice since then.
