Anhydrous tanker hits utility pole, but no leak occurs

Follow The Republic:

COLUMBUS, Ind. — An anhydrous ammonia tanker struck a utility pole this afternoon in southeast Bartholomew County, prompting a road closure, but no leak occurred because the tank was empty, according to Bartholomew County Emergency Management personnel.

Law enforcement officials closed the area of County Road 900E at County Road 300S to traffic after the tanker hit the pole at about 3:51 p.m.

The crash resulted in no significant injuries. The road closure was necessary in order to remove the wrecked tanker and allow utility crews to make repairs.
