Celebrate Recovery has long won praise from participants for the wisdom and support it provides for people struggling to overcome harmful habits or hurts, from drugs and alcohol to pornography, overeating and gambling.
Those who have battled such obstacles acknowledge that moving through the pain can be hard work. But those in the faith-based group also have fun, too.
That’s the idea behind the Celebrate Recovery End-of-Summer Barbecue at 6 p.m. Tuesday behind Community Church of Columbus, 3850 N. Marr Road. Meat and drinks will be provided. Organizers simply ask that those attending bring a dish to share, if possible.
Child care will be provided at 6:30 p.m., and the group will have its regular meeting at 7 p.m.
Although the group meets at the church, attendees need not attend services there or anywhere, for that matter. The group attracts a cross-section of people from the community.
Organizers are inviting group members to bring family and friends to the cookout.
