COLUMBUS, Ind. — This year’s unCommon Cause dinner and auction will feature decorations, dance and food inspired by India, as the Columbus Area Arts Council celebrates the sights and sounds of Bollywood.
The Arts Council chose an Indian theme for the gala because Bollywood, the Indian pendant to Hollywood, is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. And, it wants to reach out to the city’s sizable Indian population to participate at the council’s biggest annual fundraiser, said Arthur Smith, the council’s marketing and media director.
The event, at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 26, on the second level of The Commons, will feature Indian fusion cuisine from Chef Gethin Thomas, Bollywood music, dancing and live and silent auctions for prizes such as a trip to India including airfare and accommodations. Smith said the band “Living Proof” proved so popular last year that it will provide after-dinner music again this year.
