Authorities say shovel violence leads to arrest

Follow The Republic:

Columbus police responding to a domestic disturbance in the 3700 block of Ironwood Drive said they arrived to find a woman hitting her father’s vehicle with a shovel and yelling profanities at officers and neighbors.

Lucinda Valentine, 42, listed as homeless, was arrested shortly before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday on charges of disorderly conduct, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, possession of a Legend Drug and possession of a Legend Drug smoking device.

Police said they spoke with Valentine’s father, who said the woman was irate and had kicked the door open to his residence in addition to damaging the car with the shovel.

Before being transported to the Bartholomew County Jail, police located a glass smoking device and medication that was not prescribed for Valentine in her purse.

As of late Wednesday morning, Valentine was still being held in the jail in lieu of $23,500 surety or $2,350 cash bond.
