Fewer people are visiting the Edinburgh Bureau of Motor Vehicles office, and officials are considering closing the branch.
Last year, 7,718 transactions were conducted at the Edinburgh branch, which is an about 25 percent drop from 2007, BMV director of communications Josh Gillespie said. That drop led BMV officials to start considering whether to close the office and merge it with Franklin’s BMV branch, Gillespie said.
The Edinburgh branch is open two days a week.
A public hearing on the proposal is set for Thursday at Edinburgh Community High School.
