Brand unanimously named council president

Councilman Ryan Brand will be the 2013 Columbus City Council president, chosen by a 7-0 vote of the all-Republican City Council at a special meeting Monday. He is beginning the second year of his first term in office.

The following members were also appointed to serve on boards and committees:

Councilmen Dascal Bunch, Tim Shuffett and Jim Lienhoop — members of Capital Improvements Committee.

Brand — member of Commons Board, Parks and Recreation Board and Metropolitan Planning Organization board.

Councilman Frank Jerome — member of Columbus Plan Commission, Redevelopment Commission and Columbus Downtown Inc. board.

Councilmen Frank Miller and Lienhoop — Columbus Indiana Economic Development Board.

Miller — Insurance Review Committee, Incentive Review Committee and solid waste management district.

Lienhoop — Incentive review committee.
