COLUMBUS, Ind. — Hiroki Kato and Steven Greathouse are the winners of the 2012 Brown Music Competitions conducted Saturday at First Christian Church.
Kato, playing the alto saxophone, placed first in the Betty F. Brown Awards for Instrumental Excellence for a performance of “Concertino da Camera Mov. 2,” by Ibert.
Greathouse received first place in the Anna Newell Brown Awards for Vocal Excellence, singing “Danza, Danca, Fanciulla” gentile by Durante and “Sea Moods” by Tyson.
Both students will receive a $3,500 college scholarship.
